For an employee of one of the nation’s fastest-growing clothing retailers, a New York City street is no place to be caught unawares.

Skechers’ CEO Yancey Strickler got an earful on Sunday, when his office in a downtown Manhattan Beach building was surrounded by a crowd of photographers and reporters.

Some of them were recording with smartphones, and for the second time this week the outspoken CEO of the men’s apparel company was asked about his company’s financial situation, and asked if he’d be the target of an investigation by the state’s attorney general.

The company’s stock price dipped to a new low on Sunday after the news of West’s potential departure.

“I would say it’s going to be very interesting to hear what comes out, and what they want to do,” Strickler said. “I would say if they really want to do something, for sure they’re going to go after the people that they did before me.”

Skechers has been mired in controversy since West announced plans to leave the company he founded in 2005. The company is facing questions about its health insurance plan and the quality of its stock.

On Sunday, one of West’s employees, Joe LaGrange, a vice president at the company, told the New York Daily News he was considering quitting.

“I couldn’t really do it anymore. I’m not willing to put my family through that again,” LaGrange
