‘Flash’ actor Ezra Miller pleads not guilty to stealing neighbour’s liquor license
NEW YORK (AP) — ”Flash,” the latest film from ”Sully” star Mark Wahlberg, hit theaters in a week.
So it made sense that one of the stars of ”Sully,” Ezra Miller, would be a part of the promotion.
On Tuesday, Miller, who plays the role of a father in the film, pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor theft charge.
Miller, 24, a former model who is also an actor, was arrested Aug. 3, a week after shooting scenes in Manhattan with his longtime girlfriend and former ”Sully” star Amy Schumer and co-star Chris Pratt.
A court hearing before Manhattan prosecutors began to take testimony Tuesday.
Miller, who was not in court, told The Associated Press Tuesday that he has no relationship with the actress whom he’s accused of stealing the liquor license from in East Hampton.
”I had no knowledge of this,” Miller said. ”I’ve never seen this woman in my life. She never hit me or anything like that. I’ve never seen her in my life, and I don’t know her.”
He said he and his attorneys have consulted with prosecutors before deciding not to enter an agreement with the court.
The actress, who had no comment, could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday evening.
Last week, Schumer — who played the part of a sister in the movie — called Miller a “wonderful human and a kind person.
”We feel terrible about his arrest. He’s a lovely person,” she said in a statement released Tuesday. ”He is an incredibly talented actor and we are sorry he got himself into this mess.”
